Panasonic presents the HC-X1000 4K DCI/Ultra HD/Full HD Camcorder as the perfect solution for those caught in the middle of the HD and 4K transition. This versatile camera allows you to seamlessly make the shift to 4K or dive right into it. It offers cinema 4K shooting and recording at a genuine 24p, as well as UHD at frame rates compatible with broadcasting standards, making it seamlessly integrate into your existing workflow. Equipped with a 1/2.3″ MOS sensor that continuously captures footage in 4K resolution, the HC-X1000 utilizes its dual built-in Venus processing engines to downscale the 4K image for Full HD delivery. The camera supports both NTSC and PAL system frequencies, providing flexibility for different regions. Featuring a built-in 20x Leica Dicomar lens with four lens groups and electronically linked geared iris rings, the HC-X1000 gives you precise manual control over your footage. It offers two optical image stabilization modes: one for 4K and another for HD shooting. You have the choice between two viewfinders—a traditional tilt-up color EVF and a high-resolution touch screen LCD that can be pulled out. The LCD touchscreen is conveniently positioned above the lens, providing a more natural viewing experience when shooting handheld. The camera supports recording in .mp4, .mov, or AVCHD codecs and comes with dual SD media card slots. It’s important to note that Panasonic recommends using SDXC cards rated as UHS-1 U3 for recording at the highest bit rates. With two SD card slots, you can take advantage of relay recording and simultaneous recording. When recording in HD, the camera offers Panasonic’s background recording mode. In 4K recording mode, the HC-X1000 utilizes Power O.I.S. to compensate for handshake up to four thousand times per second, ensuring steady footage. For HD mode, the camera employs 5-axis hybrid O.I.S., compensating for side-to-side, up-down, and forward-back handheld shake. The camera also features electronically linked zoom, focus, and iris rings on the lens, providing tactile feedback and a familiar control experience reminiscent of mechanically linked lenses. To control exposure when shooting outdoors, the camera incorporates built-in selectable physical filters including clear, 1/4, 1/16, and 1/64th ND filters. The HC-X1000 records in MP4, MOV, or AVCHD Progressive formats. While 4K/UHD recording is limited to the MP4 codec, all codecs support full HD recording. The MP4 and MOV formats support a 200 Mb/s all intra frame codec, which requires less computing power for playback. In low-light conditions, the camera offers an IR emitter and IR recording mode, allowing you to shoot in complete darkness without visible light. However, the resulting images will have the characteristic greenish IR look. An illuminated ring changes color from blue to red while recording, providing a visual indicator to your subjects. This feature can be disabled in the camera’s menu if desired. The HC-X1000 incorporates several camera assist functions, including a histogram for displaying the image as a brightness graph and a zebra pattern to indicate areas of overexposure. Electronic color bars are available for monitor calibration and can be recorded for playback. The camera also offers a level indicator overlay, useful for checking the camera’s level when shooting handheld or with a stabilizer. Intelligent Auto (iA) mode automatically selects the appropriate scene mode for your shooting conditions. In iA Plus mode, you can adjust brightness and color while allowing the camera to control other settings. Audio features include a built-in microphone and two 3-pin XLR audio inputs for line or mic level input.
