Description Handcrafted in Lanzarote “Malpaís” silver bangle inspired by Lanzarote is a statement of intent. It is born out of admiration for the immense power of nature and lava. We have created a piece of jewellery that appeals directly to those of us who love this lunar landscape that the island of Lanzarote gives us. “Malpaís” recreates a sea of petrified lava that has become a rough and bare landscape. The surface of the cuff plays with these tortuous forms, of sterile and arid appearance, but hold valuable treasures inside. The Malpaís was the hiding place of the ancient inhabitants of the islands from pirate invasions and today it has numerous archaeological sites. It also hides a natural underground spectacle, one of the largest volcanic tubes in the world where two beautiful jameos are formed: La Cueva de Los Verdes and Jameos del Agua. The black colour, so characteristic and identifying of Lanzarote due to the magma flows which spat out of the volcanoes of Timanfaya in all directions, is also characteristic of this oxidised silver bracelet with a matte finish. The process of making the piece resembles the creation of a sculpture. With a lot of patience and dedication, we use ancestral techniques such as the lost wax function, a very ancient method used by pre-Columbian jewellers in South America.
